Abstract

Economic growth and poverty in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine economic growth and poverty in Indonesia using secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics. During the observation period from 2018 to 2022, Indonesia's economic growth tends to increase every year, but the poverty rate in Indonesia tends to decrease every year. High economic growth is expected to improve the well-being of the people, but similar to what happens in West Papua Province, where the average rate of economic growth is the highest, high economic growth in a region can improve the well-being of the people in that region. This is wrong. guarantee. The state has the second highest percentage of people living in poverty. Or after the province of Papua. This phenomenon shows that economic growth is not pro-poor. The Western Indonesia (KBI) region is in a relatively better situation than the Eastern Indonesia (KTI) region in terms of both economic growth and poverty indicators. The Eastern Indonesia Region (EIR) and some of its constituent regions are included in the category of underdeveloped regions. Governments must make serious efforts to reduce regional development disparities, promote regional economic growth and strengthen poverty reduction programs. This is because it will cumulatively impact the entire Indonesian economy.
